Fish by scientific name
Freshwater fish are present in streams on both campuses, particularly during the wet season. In the dry season they are only present in permanent pools. Numerous research projects are being conducted on both fresh and saltwater fish species in North Queensland. Some of the researchers are: Dean Jerry (finfish genetics both freshwater and marine); Lynne van Herwerden (finfish genetics, marine); David Bellwood, Howard Choat, Geoff Jones, Mark McCormick, and Phil Munday (coral reef fish); Mike Kingsford (marine fish); Damian Burrows, Richard Pearson, Rob Doupe (freshwater fish and invertebrates) and Alan Webb (tilapia).
