Description
This widespread bat is also known as a ‘fishing bat’ because it catches its prey on the surface of the water by raking it with its large feet. Feeds on aquatic insects and very small fish. Roots in caves, tree hollows, under bridges and places near water, form large colonies when breeding. Its fur is greyish-brown above but paler below.
