Mammals by scientific name
Although the mammals observed on the campuses are widespread in the surrounding areas, many are only occasional visitors. Except for the bats the presence of many is indicated by their scats. The bats are chiefly observed at dusk or dawn. Species included are based on observations by Gregor Calvert and Jen Parsons (bats) and Andrew Krockenberger. Many mammal studies are conducted by James Cook faculty and their students, particularly in the laboratories of Chris Johnson and Andrew Krockenberger.
