Employment Type:

Appointment will be full-time on a continuing basis subject to a probationary period.

Salary:

Higher Education Worker Level 4 - $42,685 - $45,372 per annum or Higher Education Worker Level 5 - $46,268 - $52,536 per annum. Level of appointment and commencing salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience. A degree qualification is required for appointment at level 5.

Position Statement

The appointee will provide support to staff of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science to facilitate the efficient and effective functioning of the unit. Specific duties include the operation and maintenance of sport and exercise science equipment, setting up and clearing away of general and specialised equipment for teaching, workshops, practical research and consultancy purposes. The appointee will also organise the daily function of the laboratory and where skills and experience are appropriate, conduct fitness testing.

    Completion of an associate diploma/trade qualification and/or combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;

  2. 2.

    Familiarity with laboratory practice;

  3. 3.

    Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;

  4. 4.

    Strong problem solving ability;

  5. 5.

    Ability to work independently oras part of a team;

  6. 6.

    Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work;

  7. 7.

    Demonstrated software competency (eg Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

HEWL 4 Desirable Selection Criteria

  1. 1.

    Background insport/exercise/physical activity;

  2. 2.

    Previous experience working in a scientific laboratory;

  3. 3.

    Knowledge of work, health and safety requirements in a laboratory/workshop environment;

  4. 4.

    Current open license.

HEWL 5 Key Selection Criteria

  1. 1.

    Degree in sport andexercise science or closely related discipline;

  2. 2.

    Demonstrated ability to conduct fitness/exercise tests;

  3. 3.

    Experience in the operation, maintenance, and calibration of sport and exercise science laboratory equipment;

  4. 4.

    Strong problem solving ability;

  5. 5.

    Ability to work independently or as part of a team;

  6. 6.

    Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work;

  7. 7.

    Demonstrated software competency (eg Word, Excel, Powerpoint);

  8. 8.

    Current Senior First Aid and CPR certificates.

HEWL 5 Desirable Selection Criteria

  1. 1.

    Knowledge of WPHS requirements in a laboratory/workshop environment;

  2. 2.

    Current Driver's License.
