Position Statement
The School of Public Health, Tropical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences invites applications for an ongoing appointment as Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology within the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science. The appointee will be highly motivated and able to contribute to the delivery of subjects and course materials in the School’s clinical exercise physiology and sport and exercise science program. The appointee will be required to conduct teaching, research, consultancy and community service activities and to provide academic and professional development advice to students.
Duties and Accountabilities
The appointee will be required to:
- 1.
Prepare and conduct lectures, tutorials, workshops and practicals within the core Clinical Exercise Physiology fields (i.e. musculoskeletal/neurological and cardiovascular/metabolic);
- 2.
Conduct assessment and administrative tasks associated with the core subject areas of Clinical Exercise Physiology;
- 3.
Supervision of student clinical placements within the area of exercise physiology;
- 4.
Undertake consultancy and/or research activities within the area of Clinical Exercise Physiology;
- 5.
Assist in the management of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science Exercise Training and Rehabilitation Clinic.
Key Selection Criteria
- 1.
Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Exercise Physiology or related field, or equivalent and relevant experience;
- 2.
Accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist with the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science;
- 3.
Experience in delivering exercise physiology clinical/practical services;
- 4.
Teaching experience of Clinical Exercise Physiology or related field;
- 5.
Ability to contribute to a multidisciplinary team-based research program;
- 6.
Strong interpersonal communication and time management skills.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- 1.
Possession, near completion or willingness to undertake a higher degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology or Sport and Exercise Science;
- 2.
Experience in course design/development of Clinical Exercise Physiology or closely related programs;
- 3.
Ability to teach students in at least one of the core sport and exercise science fields (other than Clinical Exercise Physiology);
- 4.
Record of research publications within the Clinical Exercise Physiology or related fields.
