Indexing/Abstracting Databases

MEDLINE via Ovid - the premier database for every aspect of health
Medline - the premier biomedical database along with nucleotide, protein, genome etc databases [via PubMed]
Web of Science / Current Contents - indexes 8,500 of the world’s most cited journals across all disciplines
Scopus - Over 16,000 peer-reviewed journals from more than 4,000 publishers; also results from scientific web pages and patent records from 5 patent offices.
BIOSIS Previews is a major source of references to the life science journal literature
CAB Direct - covers many aspects on the bio-sciences
Ingenta.com - search for journal articles (was UnCover Plus): online articles searches c5,500 electronic journals; fax/Ariel articles searches the Tables of Contents of c.28,000 print titles

ScienceDirect - online access to 290 Elsevier, Harcourt and Academic Press journals (subsumes IDEAL)
Wiley Interscience - full text of Wiley journals
InfoTrac - indexes over 2,000 journals with full-text articles from over half available online
ProQuest 5000 - another indexing and full-text database complementing InfoTrac

National Center for Biotechnology Information - one of the great biochemistry and molecular biology websites offering free databases and information on molecular processes affecting human health and disease. Resources include PubMed, GenBank, gene taxonomy database, 3D structural databases, OMIM, Blast, Entrez, EMBL, DDBJ, PIR, SWISS-PROT, PRF, PDB and many more. It's too big to describe - just go there!
